Obituary

Alonso Esquivel, 64, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly the early midnight hour on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Alonso was born the 2nd oldest of 5 children to Gregorio and Maria Esquivel in Elsa, Texas on October 1, 1958. He worked for Cherokee Freight Lines for over 20 years as a Professional Truck Driver and loved life on the open road.

He met his wife, Sylvia Reyna Esquivel during their sophomore year at Sanger High School where they both attended. Shortly after graduating high school, after attending one year in Reedley College, Alonso enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served from 1978-1983 with pride and honor. He was a very proud Marine Veteran.

Upon his return, they married December 17, 1983 in which he gained a son, Stephen Esquivel. In 1985 they had their first daughter, Stephanie "Little Foot" Ann Esquivel and 4 years later in 1989 welcomed their second daughter into the world, Samantha "Munchkin" Esquivel. He worked hard to make sure they were taken care of and felt loved every day. He was an adventurous, loving, caring and generous Father.

Alonso wore many titles: son, best, husband, dad, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, godfather, friend, coach, cook, and actor (he always said to find him in the movie "Urban Cowboy" as an extra).

Through the years Alonso enjoyed the open road, camping, cooking (BBQ was his favorite), traveling, spending time with his family and friends, NASCAR, meeting people, and an avid food enthusiast (always sharing his favorite food spots).

He was preceded in death by his parents; Gregorio & Maria Esquivel, son; Stephen Esquivel, nephews; Anthony Esquivel & Andrew Garcia and many beloved uncles, aunts, friends and friends he considered family.

He is survived by his wife; Sylvia "Green Eyes" Esquivel, his daughters & son-in-laws; Stephanie & Nelson Montero, Samantha & Darrian Dukes, his grandchildren; Anisa Esquivel, Anthony Esquivel, Johnny Cerda, Sara Teresa Dukes and Grandson on the way, Theo Alonso Montero, his newly born great grandson Dominic Stephen Vargas and brothers and sisters; Maria Navarro, Jaime Esquivel, Mario Esquivel & Stella Aguilar.

Please join his family to celebrate his life and all he has contributed in his lifetime.
