Obituary

Annette McCain Feaver, June 26, 1931 – February 25, 2026

Annette McCain Feaver was born to Henry Bryson (H.B.) and La Nelle Baird McCain in a fertile farming community north of Memphis, TN. Both parents' families were staunch Presbyterians and respected leaders in their church and community. Even as a preschooler, Annette's beautiful alto singing voice became well-known locally where she sang at many weddings and was featured on Memphis radio. Annette attended the Salem (TN) school through grade 8 and graduated from Brighton (TN) High School. She attended Memphis State University before joining the work force, eventually moving to Washington, D.C. where she worked at the U. S. Pentagon. After returning home to Tennessee, she held positions at the Memphis Naval Air Station (NAS) where she met Fowler native Ron Feaver who was serving in the Navy. They married in 1954, and Annette joined Ron to live the rest of their lives in Fowler, CA.

Throughout her six decades in California, Annette was involved in community work and activities. As a dedicated member of the Fowler Presbyterian Church, she served as Sunday School teacher, Deacon, choir member, and in the Women's Association. In one of her earliest roles in the church, she and Ron led the older teen youth group, and she later was a leader in the church's "Kids' Club."

Annette served her adopted hometown in many capacities, including 15 years as Fowler City Treasurer. She was a frequent volunteer for civic events, was a Girl Scout leader, and served years as a patient and family helper at Fresno Community Hospital. She was a decades-long member and leader of the Fowler Improvement Association (FIA), holding numerous FIA Board positions and serving as its President. She was active in the California Federation of Women's Clubs and as a member of California Women for Agriculture.

Her employment included positions at Massey Ferguson, Secretary of the Fowler Presbyterian Church, and Sales Associate at Macy's in Fresno.

Annette's love of God was evidenced by the way she lived. She was kind, compassionate, and loving. She had a quick sense of humor, was great at ballroom dancing, loved playing bridge and her bridge friends. For five generations, she loved being part of the sports and music activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who, along with many of their friends, referred to her as "Meme." She and Ron traveled in their RV to many band reviews and ballgames across the state to see them perform. For nearly five decades, she was a regular presence at Fowler High's baseball games where their son Bill is the Coach. She was a great cook and treasured hosting family and friends in their home, especially sharing her special desserts with them. She enjoyed their travels, which were extensive, but her favorite journeys were family trips on the luxurious steamboats that sail the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, always adding a stop to visit "home."

Annette is survived by her loving family:

Daughter Dianne Lewis, son-in-law Tim Lewis. Grandson Tom Lewis and wife Amanda, great-grandson Beau, and great-granddaughter Ronni. Grandson Steven Lewis and wife Katie, great-grandsons Dawson and Hudson.

Son Bill Feaver and daughter-in-law Paula, granddaughter Julianna, and grandson Josh.

She also leaves behind a loyal first cousin, Mary Nelle McLennan, and other Tennessee cousins and friends.

Remarkably, Annette never forgot her love for west Tennessee where she grew up and for her family there. She faithfully visited them each year and made certain that her daughter and son and their children knew their Tennessee family and roots.

A celebration of Annette's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. PDT on Sunday, March 22nd, at the Fowler Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to the Fowler Presbyterian Church.
