Obituary

Annette Gulian, loving wife, mom, nana, and faithful servant of God entered her eternal home on February 21, 2025 at the age of 67.

Annette was born on May 8, 1957 and was a lifelong resident of Fresno. She was the second of four children. She would often speak of memorable events with her siblings, Rupen, Alice, and Tony. She loved going to her grandparents' house on the farm and playing with her cousins. She attended Roosevelt High School, where she discovered her talent and love for art. She designed and drew all of the banners for her high school during her time there. She continued this passion in college and throughout her life.

She met her future husband, Michael Gulian, on a blind date when she was 16 years old and he was 19 years old. They were inseparable ever since. Michael and Annette married on January 8, 1977 at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church. Throughout their 48 years of marriage, they raised three children (Kathy, Jenny, and Mikie) in a home full of faith and love. She took an active role in her kids' lives and always made sure to give them a solid foundation in every way imaginable. (We couldn't have asked for a better mommy.)

After their children married and had their own children, Annette fully embraced her role as "nana." Papa and nana's house became like a second home to all of the grandchildren. From the time each of the grandchildren were born, papa and nana never shied away from babysitting, sleepovers, and outings with all of them. They were never too tired or too busy to spend time with their grandchildren. Even during her illness she always attended her grandchildren's performances, sporting events, awards, and did pickups and drop offs to and from school and sports practices.

She was a faithful 1st grade Sunday School Teacher at Holy Trinity for nearly 30 years. Every Saturday she would spend her day getting a Sunday School lesson ready for "her kids." She was so happy to bring her students closer to God through her lessons and activities in class. It brought her so much joy to see her former students grow up, become successful in their lives and take an active role in the church.

Annette touched the lives of so many. She will always be loved beyond words and deeply missed.

Annette was predeceased by her parents and her older brother, Rupen Boyajian. She is survived by her husband, Michael Gulian, her daughter Kathy (Randy Shahbazian), her daughter Jenny (Josh Shamp), her son Michael Gulian (Adrina), along with 10 grandchildren: Jacob, Aaron, Elizabeth, and Daniel Shahbazian; Alyssa and Natalie Shamp; Noranoush, Araxia, Sona, and Avedis Gulian. She is also survived by her sister Alice (Ohannes Bedrossian), her brother Tony, her sister Irene, her brother Mathew (Sandie), her stepmother Alex, her sister-in-law, Michele (Randy), Susan, Richard (Denise), and many extended family members and friends.
