Charlene Leslie McLaughlin Shafer passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2023 in Visalia, California.

Charlene was born on May 19th, 1945 to Charles and Leslie McLaughlin in Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Bishop Alemany High School in 1963. Over Charlene's life she worked for many places including, Holy Cross Hospital, multiple banks, Aetna, and an Orthodontist office where she eventually retired from in 2014. On June 5, 1965 she married the love of her life, Earl Shafer. The couple welcomed 5 children into their home.

Charlene enjoyed, more than anything, spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, and shopping.

Charlene was predeceased by her husband, Earl Shafer, son, Walter Shafer, father, Charles McLaughlin, mother, Leslie McLaughlin Healy, and step father, John Healy. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Joan Kukuczka and Margaret Pineau. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Neal (Everette Neal), Virginia Lenz (Richard Lenz), Earl Shafer (Jennifer Shafer), RoseMary Scheck (Daniel Scheck), and 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sanger, California. The burial will immediately follow at Sanger Cemetery.

Charlene will be remembered for her loving nature, her smile, and dedication to her family.
