Obituary

Mrs. Corrine Wilson passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day. She was 94 years old. Over the course of her 9 decades, she would wear a lot of different hats. Mother, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Cousin, Aunt, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She wore all of these hats well.

Corrine was born in the little town of Scotland, South Dakota in 1931. Her parents, Ed and Elsie Heinle, would also have one other child, Gordon who was a year older than Corrine.

The family would move to Sanger, California when Corrine was 6 years old. She attended Sanger area schools until High School graduation. Shortly after, she would marry Gerald Schmidt and would have two children with him, Pam and Keith. She worked in a Del Rey packing shed and then became an inspector for the USDA. She would retire from this in the mid 90's.

Following a divorce she would marry Jamie 0. Wilson and have another son, Kevin, in 1965. But she would also inherit four sons from Jamie...Jim, Bruce, Mark and Scott Wilson. With three of these sons already in their teens, you have to admire her courage for taking on this challenge.

Corrine would also find time to give back to the community. She was active in the Sanger Women's Club and the Tabitha ladies' group at Salem/Crosspointe Church where she held the distinction of being the oldest member. Through Jamie, she was also active in VFW and the Masons.

Did we tell you she could cook? Inspired by her German roots, she excelled at making beerocks, cabbage rolls, german sausage, pizzelles, kuchen, vareniki and oh so much more! She often got carried away with these treats. So much so that it required her to have a refrigerator and two freezers to hold all of these goodies.

After Jamie's passing, Corrine would live another 10 years in her beloved Sanger home. Unfortunately, father time would force her to move to Carmel Village in 2022. She would spend close to 4 years making many new friends and playing bingo there.

Of all the different hats she wore in her lifetime perhaps her favorites were being a Grandma and Great Grandma. Her refrigerator would tell the story. She kept pictures of all her Grandkids and Great Grandkids prominently posted on the side of her refrigerator. After all, food and family were two of her favorite things.

She was greatly loved and will be extremely missed.
