Daniel E.
Poole
Apr 12, 1944 — Mar 13, 2025
clovis
Born in California on April 12, 1944, Daniel dedicated 38 years to serving his community through the Madera County Sheriff's Department and the District Attorney's Office, retiring as Chief Criminal Investigator. After retirement, he continued in his love for law enforcement by helping others as a private investigator. He was a member of the Madera Elks Lodge and the Retired Peace Officers Association of California. His strong work ethic and determination were evident in everything he did, whether in his career, his family life, or his personal interests.
In addition to a fulfilling career, he had many personal interests that brought him joy. In his younger years, he was a talented basketball player, and his love for the game never faded. After his playing days, he stayed involved by refereeing high school games. Alongside basketball, he also had a lifelong passion for collecting and tinkering with cars. If you ever went looking for him and couldn't find him, chances were he was either working on one of his cars - or even taking a nap inside one.
He enjoyed traveling and had a special way of connecting with people wherever he went. In a small town, he would get to know the local shop owner where we purchased our fresh produce and befriend the baker at the bakery where he walked every morning for his coffee and pastry. He took an active interest in people, always asking questions and making others feel valued and appreciated. He had a way of forming real connections. While he liked discovering new places, being sentimental, he often preferred returning to places he had been before. Reliving the moments and the memories they held dear.
He had an appreciation for life's simple joys. He loved the sight and sound of a Southern summer storm and never missed an opportunity to admire a sunset, always with a good cigar in hand. Even in the face of illness, he remained strong-willed, fighting with resilience and continuing to enjoy life's little moments.
More than anything, he loved his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them, ensuring they were always cared for and supported. He was a wonderful Papa to his grandchildren and found his greatest joy in being surrounded by his family. He was dedicated to his family and was a devoted father, a proud Papa, and a loyal friend. He was always there when you needed him, offering a helping hand, a listening ear or simply a steady presence you could count on.
On March 13, 2025, Daniel passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Pam Woodruff Poole; his three children, Travis, Trisha, and Tracy; and his eight beloved grandchildren.
Daniel was dearly loved and will be missed more than words can express. His kindness, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, we will always see him in the sunsets he loved and feel his presence in every cherished memory we hold dear.
Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
