David Gene
Marler
Jan 24, 1953 — Sep 23, 2022
Sanger
Mr. David Gene Marler, 69, of Sanger passed away September 23, 2022 at home. He was born in Fresno on January 24 th, 1953 to Clif and Virginia Marler. Dave graduated from Sanger High School in '71 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State. He was married to his loving wife, Lori, for almost 48 years. Dave worked in local agriculture as a Crop Consultant, PCA, for almost 50 years and developed many life-long friendships within the farming community. He will be greatly missed. He was a loyal and loving friend to many, and known for helping others unconditionally.
Dave's Christian faith was an essential part of his life and he was very involved with the local faith community and especially through the leadership of his Life Group. The deep connection between the people brought together through his faith and example of servant leadership will continue long after his passing. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity Greater Fresno Area for 20 years, and his hands touched more than 60 habitat homes. He served on the Family Selection Action Team, Strategy Committee, on the Board of Directors and spent many joyful hours working side by side with the partner families at the construction job site being the hands and feet of Jesus.
He was an avid fly fisherman and spent countless hours fishing the upper Kings River and in Montana on the Missouri, Madison, Yellowstone, Clark Fork, Bitterroot and Blackfoot Rivers. This is where he found closeness and joy in communion with our Lord. He and Lori enjoyed many travel experiences, but enjoyed spending time in Morro Bay and at Shaver Lake with family the most of all. He enjoyed woodworking and building play equipment for and with his grandsons. His passion was his family and friends, and loved being "Papa" to his grandsons and spent as much time as possible with them.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lori Bainter Marler; his son Adam (Britt Foster) and his daughter Lindsey Sever (Raymond); and three precious grandsons, Alex Foster-Marler and Owen and Finn Sever. Also survived by his brother Carl (Denise) and Roy (Noelle) and his sister- in-law Karen Bainter and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Habitat for Humanity Greater Fresno Area, 4991 E. McKinley Ave, Ste 123, Fresno, CA 93727.
Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:38–39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold my righteous right hand.
