Elizabeth "Betty"
Guzoujian
May 18, 1924 — Nov 24, 2022
Elizabeth "Betty" Guzoujian was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 18, 1924 to Krikor and Aghavni Marderosian. She passed away peacefully at the age of 98 with her children by her side. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, brother Mardy, sisters Veronica and Mary, sister-in-law Muriel, son-in-law Bob and great-grandson Brady. Betty grew up in Boston, Massachusetts with her parents and three siblings. She attended school in Boston and graduated from Boston High School. At the age of 20, she moved with her family to Fowler, California. She later met and married George Guzoujian and together they raised their three children in Fowler. Betty was 46 years old when her husband passed away at the age of 56. Betty worked part-time at her sister and brother-in-law's restaurant, The Peach Tree, where she enjoyed cooking many of her Armenian dishes. After her retirement from the restaurant, she enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Her love for cooking continued as she cooked for her children, grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was loving and caring for her family. She enjoyed traveling. She loved going on vacations to the beach and Lake Tahoe- where she loved playing the slot machines. Many fond memories were made on family camping trips where she enjoyed fishing and boating- even at the age of 95. She also went on several cruises abroad. Betty was also a member of St. Gregory Church and enjoyed volunteering for the church's Lady's Society.
She is survived by her daughter Lucille and her husband Dennis; daughter Susie and son Robert; grandchildren Darrin and wife Suzanne, Andrea and husband Justin, Leanne and husband Vartan, her great-grandchildren Dylan, Paige, Ava, Cole, Drew, Ashlyn, Sophia, Vaughn and Kate; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ara Sogomonian, the California Armenian Home and all the staff who provided excellent care for their mother. They would also like to thank Compassionate Care Hospice for her end of life care.
