Elvira Martínez de Acevedo nació en Ixcatepec, Guerrero, México el 25 de enero de 1958. Elvira nació de su amada madre, Catalina Trinidad Antonio y su padre Antonio Catarino López. Elvira era la segunda de seis hermanos. Elvira se reunió con su amada madre Catalina y su niet@ Ángel González la madrugada del 29 de enero de 2024. Cuando Elvira dejó esta tierra para entrar en su vida eterna, estuvo rodeada de aquellos que más la amaban. Elvira entró por las puertas del cielo apenas unos días después de cumplir 66 años. A Elvira le sobreviven su esposo Esteban Díaz Acevedo, su hija Erica Acebedo, su hija Estela Catalina Acebedo González, su hijo Stephen Acebedo y su hija Sonya Elvira Acevedo. Elvira deja atrás a su yerno, Raymundo González. El legado de Elvira sigue vivo en sus hijos y nietos, incluida su nieta Catalina Rae González, su nieto Félix Raymundo González y su nieta Amada Julianna González, a quienes amaba y cuidaba a diario. Elvira fue una guerrera intrépida que emigró a los Estados Unidos hace más de 41 años, en busca de una vida mejor para su madre y su familia. El mayor orgullo y alegría de Elvira eran sus hijos y nietos. Elvira era una amante del aire libre y pasaba momentos tranquilos en su jardín cuidando sus flores, plantas y alimentos orgánicos cosechados durante cada temporada. Elvira era una de las personas más amigables y entablaba conversación con cualquiera que tuviera el honor de conocerla. Más adelante en su vida, Elvira siguió los pasos de su padre y se dedicó al activismo social y uno de los aspectos más destacados de este trabajo fue conocer al gobernador de "el flaquito", Gavin Newsom. Elvira dedicó su tiempo a cuidar a los necesitados, incluyendo la alimentación de las personas sin hogar y el voluntariado en la Fundación Dolores Huerta. Elvira será recordada por su espíritu amoroso, afectuoso, protector y compasivo. No le decimos adiós a nuestra querida Elvira, sino un hasta luego.


Elvira Martinez de Acevedo was born in Ixcatepec, Guerrero, Mexico on January 25th 1958. Elvira was born to her loving mother, Catalina Trinidad Antonio and her father Antonio Catarino Lopez. She was the second born of six siblings. Elvira was reunited with her loving mother Catalina and her grandchild Angel Gonzalez early morning on January 29th, 2024. As Elvira left this earth to enter into her eternal life, she was surrounded by those that loved her the most. Elvira entered the gates of heaven just a few days after her 66th birthday. Elvira is survived by her husband Esteban Diaz Acevedo, daughter Erica Acebedo, daughter Estela Catalina Acebedo Gonzalez, her son Stephen Acebedo and her daughter Sonya Elvira Acevedo. Elvira leaves behind her son in law, Raymundo Gonzalez. Elvira's legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren including her granddaughter Catalina Rae Gonzalez, her grandson Felix Raymundo Gonzalez, and her granddaughter Amada Julianna Gonzalez whom she loved and cared for daily. Elvira was a fearless warrior who immigrated to the United States over 41 years ago, in search of a better life for her mother and family. Elvira entered the United States with nothing but the clothes on her back and her hopes and dreams of a better future. Elvira worked tirelessly and achieved many milestones and goals that many only dream of. Elvira spent the last decade of her life caring for others including her grandchildren whom she spoiled with love and care. Elvira was a devout Catholic woman who celebrated and had deep faith in God and the Virgin Mary, whom she honored with a rosary and dinner every year. Elvira's greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Elvira was a lover of the outdoors and would spend quiet moments in her garden tending to her flowers, plants and harvested organic foods during every season. Elvira was amongst one of the friendliest people, striking up a conversation with anyone who had the honor of meeting her. Later in life, Elvira followed in the footsteps of her father and engaged in social activism and one of the highlights of this work was meeting "el flaquito" Governor Gavin Newsom. Elvira gave of her time caring for those in need, including feeding the homeless and volunteering with the Dolores Huerta Foundation. Elvira will be remembered for her loving, caring, nurturing and compassionate spirit. Mom, this is not a goodbye, this is a "see you later".
