Esperanza G.
Munoz
Nov 9, 1934 — Nov 25, 2024
Parlier
It is not only with profound sadness, but deep gratitude for her long life of 90 years that we share the passing of our mother Esperanza G. Munoz. Mom passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25th in her home that she has lived in for the past 56 years. She was affectionately known as Baby all of her life. She was a beloved wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Mom was born on November 9th, 1934 in Los Angeles. She was raised by her loving parents Antonio and Josephine Gomez. She grew up with her big brother Tony in their home on the corner of Merced and K street in Parlier. The house was filled with many family members including nieces, nephews and her two older sisters.
As a young teen, Mom decided to quit school to work full-time. She worked in the fields, Bayly's in Sanger, Cal Spun in Parlier and Sun Maid Raisin for 20 years retiring there in 1996. She had a very ambitious spirit becoming a top Avon Sales Lady and went on to own L & H Sandwich Shop in Reedley for several years while holding down her regular job. She was up to the challenge.
Baby was married for 57 years to Lupe P. Munoz until his passing in 2012. They lived in Parlier all of their lives and raised a family there. She will be remembered for being a fantastic cook, everyone knew that they could walk into her home after two knocks at the kitchen door to sit down to the most delicious meal. Baby also had a very generous heart and helped anyone in need. She loved the company of her family and friends and enjoyed gatherings. We could always count on her to say something hilarious or make witty comments about any topic being discussed. She also really enjoyed being in her garden where she planted her mother's 100 year old rose bushes. Baby loved watching her Sunday Football games and did so right up until her passing.
Baby is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Carrie Castro and her husband Jesse, Cindy Munoz, Cathy Rodriguez and her husband Ron, son Michael Munoz. Grandchildren Christopher Castro, Stefanie and Tiffanie Rodriguez and great grandchildren Liliana, Marcus and Mariah Castro.
A special thank you to Hinds Hospice for their gentle loving care. A memorial service will be held at Wallin Parlier Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7th at 10am followed by a reception. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
