Obituary

On May 6 th , 2023 Evelyn Lois Walker Wall, age 95, passed away surrounded by her family.

Born in Okemah, Oklahoma on July 18, 1927, she was the 4 th of 7 children born to Frank and Opal Walker. She is survived by her sister June Henson and brother Ronnie Walker.

Evelyn along with her parents and siblings came to California when she was 10 years old. First living near Gilroy where the entire family survived Small Pox. Then moving to Redondo Beach where after graduating High School she worked in the Naval Supply Depot during WWII.

She came to Sanger after the war where she joined First Southern Baptist Church and was a pillar of the church for over 70 years. This was where she met Cecil Wall in 1952. Their first date was to a choir performance at another church in the area as Cecil loved to sing and she loved to listen. They decided to get married a few months later. Cecil suggested they get married on July 18, 1953 as he had a few days leave from the Navy then. Evelyn said that would be great as it was her birthday and she'd definitely remember the date. She often said she doesn't have birthdays anymore, only anniversaries.

Together they had 2 sons, Richard and Todd, who gave them 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. They raised a beautiful family and a bounty of friends.

Evelyn taught her kids, grandkids and great grandkids to play all kinds of games (we all still love Uno and Phase 10). She is the reason we still have more desserts than food at every get together and there were many of those. She loved hosting gatherings for holidays, birthdays or any reason to have family and friends to come over to have a good time. Everyone was welcome because she believed in helping anyone in any way we can. She always said "if everyone was the same, life would be boring". She was the true meaning of unconditional love. Upon hearing of her passing, someone told me "she was always good to me and I'll always remember her for that".

Evelyn lived at her home in Sanger until the last year of her life when she lived with family. She is predeceased by her husband Cecil and great granddaughter Bailey.

She was famous for saying "No one knows what the future holds, but we know who holds the future" and for telling us all "I love you, I love you, I love you".
