Felix
Alvarado
Mar 31, 1936 — Feb 12, 2025
Sanger
On the morning of February 12, 2025 , the world lost a man of quiet strength and unwavering love. Felix Alvarado was a man of discipline and deep devotion - a protector, a provider, and the unshakeable foundation of his family. He carried himself with a stern but fair presence , never one to waste words but always ensuring that the people he loved felt safe, cared for, and guided in the right direction.
Born on March 31, 1936, in Watts, California , Felix's life was one of hard work, after serving 4 years for his country in the Navy, loyalty, and deep-rooted love. It was in high school that he met Hope Maldonado , the woman who would become his greatest love. They began their romance as high school sweethearts , exchanging handwritten letters filled with youthful promise, and in August of 1959 , they built that promise into a lifelong commitment. Together they raised six children , ensuring that love, discipline, and family always came first.
Felix was a man who found joy in both routine and tradition . His mornings started early, making coffee for Hope --a simple act that spoke volumes of his love. He spend his days tending to his yard, and tidy home and dogs , caring for the small things with the same dedication he gave to his family. A lifelong Dodgers and Rams fan , he watched every game with fierce loyalty, win or lose, but perhaps nothing made him prouder than watching his grandchildren play on the local football team and his granddaughters cheer from the sidelines , standing beside Hope, knowing that their family's strength and spirit carried on to the next generation.
Though stern in his expectations , Felix's love was undeniable. He had a way of challenging his children through conversation , sitting at the dinner table with them, asking questions that weren't just small talk, but his way of ensuring that they were on the right path. He was a man who believed in honesty, hard work, and responsibility, and he instilled those values in his family. He gave freely to his friends and loved ones, never hesitating to lend a hand when someone needed it. And despite his firm exterior, he had a kind heart that was always there for those who mattered most.
Felix found joy in fishing and camping trips, especially with his sons, where the quiet of nature mirrored his own thoughtful presence. He loved playing racing games with his grandchildren, his competitive spirit never quite fading. And when he wanted a little fun of his own, he would take trips to Laughlin, laughing and gambling alongside close friends and family.
Felix leaves behind a family who will forever carry his lessons, his love, and his strength. He is survived by his oldest daughter, Felicia Garcia, and her husband Victor; his oldest son, Arthur Alvarado, and his wife Glynis; his middle son, Henry Alvarado; his middle daughter, Annette Alvarado; his youngest daughter, Patricia Casarez, and her husband Robert; and his youngest son, Jesse Alvarado, and one remaining sister, Lola Baker. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, each of whom carries a part of his legacy.
Though his voice will no longer echo across the dinner table, his wisdom and presence will forever be felt in the values he instilled, the conversations he shared, the traditions he upheld, and the unwavering love he gave to his family. And as Valentine's Day passed this year, we took comfort in knowing that Felix found his way back to his beloved Hope—together again, just as he had wished.
Preceding him in death, he will be joining his parents Dionicio and Elvira Alvarado, sisters Mary-Helen, Cora, and brothers Phillip and Joe.
Rest easy, Felix. Your strength, your love, and your legacy will never fade.
