Florence Genevieve
Cooper
Sep 1, 1922 — May 12, 2025
Selma
Florence G. Cooper, age 102, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Home in Selma CA. She was born September 1, 1922, in Fowler (Fresno County), to Olin and Mable Bagby. She had two siblings, a brother Glenn and sister Avis (Bagby) Ward. Florence was raised on the Manning Family Ranch where her father built the farmhouse and water tower. She was a graduate of Washington Union High School. She attended the 'old' Elm Street Easton Presbyterian Church and with her parents continued their membership in the new Easton Presbyterian Church when they moved to a new home that her father built on Hopkins Avenue in Easton. Florence (Bagby) Cooper was a member of Easton Presbyterian Church all her life including the years her job as a Bookkeeper for Western Union in Fresno and when they transferred her to the Sacramento office where she retired. After retirement she moved to Fresno where she bought a home and lived there until she moved to Bethel Lutheran Home. Florence truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures spending many hours reading, crocheting, making homemade lemon marmalade and lemonade for family and friends and was a faithful member of Easton Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, transporting church members who could no longer drive to their various appointments and to church services. She continued this for many more years after her term as Deacon was over. She also was Memorials Secretary for 15 years and assisted in the mailing of the Informer newsletter.
She is survived by daughter Louise Cooper, her nieces Loretta May (Bagby) Crawford, Janet Louise Bagby and nephew Stan Leland Bagby, niece Beatrice (Be-Ann) (Ward) Tiller and many great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Olin and Mable Bagby, brother Glenn Bagby, sister Avis (Bagby) Ward, nephew Charles Ward, niece Judy (Ward) Lichti and nephew Cid Ward.
The family wishes to express our thanks and appreciation to Mayra Herroz and Marty Martin for all the love and care they extended to Florence while she was at home and then at the Bethel Lutheran Home.
