Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of Gumecindo Casares Gallardo, 87, of Fresno, CA who went home to be with our Lord on November 9, 2022. Our hearts are broken and devastated.  He is preceded in death by his wife Rose Tilly, son Michael Macias, sister Margaret Castillo, brother Senobio Gallardo and sister Maria Elena Gallardo.

Gumer is survived by daughters Gloria Gallardo, Diane Chavez, husband Mike Chavez, Susan Macias, Anna Marie Macias with partner Norma Esqueda, Daughter-in-law Alice Macias, Lena Salas and Yolanda Gallardo. Siblings: Ophelia Alvarez, Patsy Mata, Lupe Perez, Maria Avilez, Ray Gallardo, and Margarito Jr. Gallardo. He's also survived by 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren.

Gumer was born in Weslaco, Texas to Margarito and Refugia Casares Gallardo on January 13, 1935. He married Rose on November 24, 1995. He worked as a foreman for Bonner Raisin Company for 40+ years.  Dad and family lived in Weslaco, Texas and came to California in 1947. Dad loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved going out for breakfast. We spent so many special birthday celebrations with Dad at Brooks Ranch or Favorito.  Dad loved to travel.  His favorite destination was traveling to Texas to visit his extended family. He called it God's Country. He loved spending time reminiscing about the "good 'ol days". He also liked to spend Friday nights in the garage with friends and some Bud Lights. He actually believed that Bud Light would be available in heaven. He loved the Dallas Cowboys.

Dad is loved by so many. Once you met dad you had him as a friend forever. He welcomed you with a smile and a warm handshake. "I know no strangers, just friends I haven't met."  Dad was a beacon of love that radiated onto all those dear and loved by him. He loved his family and friends dearly.  Dad, Grandpa, Great- Grandpa, Brother, Cousin, Uncle, Compa, Nino, and Friend - we miss you, we love you and you will forever live in our hearts. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.
