Homero E.
Espinosa
May 14, 1940 — Jun 27, 2023
Parlier
Homero Espinosa entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 27, 2023. His spirit is carried on by his beautiful wife, four loving children, 6 grandchildren, three surviving siblings, and an extended family of relations and friends,
Homero Espinosa. Strong, brave, generous, community leader, and a jokester. When people heard Homero passed away, they began slowly to come to his home and pay homage, share their experiences and stories about Homero, and mostly express their gratitude for having him in their lives. One person shared how Homero, after working 30 years at Espinosa Market in Parlier, then working another 25 years in R&N Market in the same town, had the opportunity to work alongside him during the latter. He shared that Homero had a hard time watching people steal from the store. There was a particular thief who liked to steal beer. One day, the beer thief struck again and Homero at 64 years old, stopped the person and asked him to leave the merchandise. The person refused. After the second request, the man proceeded to lunge at Homero, and with one punch, Homero knocked him down. Another coworker shared that Homero always encouraged him to return to school and when he could not because of finances, Homero asked how much he needed and gave him the money. Yet, another person came by and shared that Homero gave him the best consejos during his much loved poker tournaments. A happy couple from Parlier came by and told Homero's wife, Elia, that they were grateful to Homero because he had given them money to get married in Las Vegas. His children would say that Homero was loving, affectionate, and always there for them, but tough. He had high standards for their education and character. He often did not accept gifts, but instead wanted people's time and company. He chose a life centered around supporting the Parlier community whether as a grocery stocker or on a committee. He also spent most of his life advocating for migrant farm worker's rights alongside his late brother, Lalo, and surviving brother Jose Luis.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, children, and grandchildren whose photos and careers he would proudly share with people he encountered: Elia (Education, Beloved Honey), Juan (Retired Sheriff Deputy, children Andres, and Jules), Nora (Health Care, children Austin), Graciela (Bilingual Education Specialist, Husband Juan Carlos, children Alejandro), Homero Jr. (Music_Connects Founder, Musical artist, Sr. Director of Production, Wife Monica, children Homero David, the 3rd); Siblings José Luis, Emma, Juan Enrique; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and family dear to his heart to be forgotten.
