Hope L.
Alvarado
Jul 2, 1936 — Jan 1, 2024
Sanger
Our darling mother, and wife, Hope L. Alvarado has left us on January 1, 2024. She has left behind a loving husband, six children, twelve grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother. She was born on July 2, 1936, on the outskirts of Sanger, CA and has, since, celebrated eighty-seven remarkable years of life with her family and friends. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2022, Our beloved matriarch continued to live her life to the fullest right up until her death.
While she enjoyed a happy and prosperous sixty-four years of marriage to Felix Alvarado, Hope also lived her life within the Sanger community as the local owner/operator of Sanger Beauty Salon. Having met Felix Alvarado as high school sweethearts, they fell in love and married in August of 1959. They continued their marriage happily raising their six children. Although Hope and Felix worked during most of their waking days, they enjoyed the time that they were able spend with their children at the dinner table, celebrating graduations, and attending family reunions. A favorite amongst her children was taking long afternoon day trips, camping in the summer, and making memorable family vacation destinations or weddings. As a grandmother, Hope took tremendous pride in fostering a home life that provided warmth, affection, and love for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A favorite memory amongst her grandchildren was having a home cooked meal for Sunday breakfast, allowing her grandchildren to share their stories about their lives as she listened intently with her elbow resting on her chin and her radiant smile warming their hearts underneath.
As a sister, Hope enjoyed many, many trips to the casino with her sisters and brothers and would visit them as often as she could. She had undeniable passion for cross-stitching, a passion that became more than a hobby as soon as she began gifting her pieces of art to her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Felix Alvarado, oldest daughter, Felicia Garcia and husband Victor, oldest son, Arthur Alvarado and his wife Glynis, middle-son, Henry Alvarado, middle-daughter, Annette Alvarado, youngest daughter Patricia Casarez and husband Robert, and youngest son, Jesse Alvarado, her sisters, Dolores (Lolly) Luna, Rosie Rangel, and brother Richard Maldonado. She, also, will be leaving behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless other friends that she has met throughout her fruitful life. Preceding her in death, she will be joined by her mother and father Lupe and Jesus, brothers Rudy and Danny Maldonado, and sister Alice Rico.
As a devout Catholic, Hope's private viewing for family will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at Wallins Funeral Home in Sanger, CA. A rosary prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. A Catholic mass will be held the following morning at St. Mary's New Catholic Church on Bethel and North at 10:00 a.m. followed by her internment at Sanger Cemetery.
