On Saturday, February 25, 2023, Ismael M. Rodriguez "Smiley" at the age of 79 gained his wings and was called to be with the Lord. Born on June 17, 1943, in the city of Coahuila, México to Nicholasa and Francisco Rodriguez. From Mexico, he moved to Texas then settled and created a family in the town of Sanger, California. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 59 years Carmen; daughters, Nora and Yvette; son Joel, his grandchildren Bryanna, Larry, Hailai, and Jovian, siblings Ray, John, Paul, Frank, David, Raymond, Sofia, Angie, Stella, and Mary.

Although Ismael faced many battles in his life, he overcame them with grace and love. He was a hardworking man that loved spending time with his family watching the Raiders play. Ismael was well known as the Raiders #1 fan. After years of upsetting football seasons, he still was faithful and never gave up on his team.

Ismael was known to be found in his happy place (his backyard) gardening and enjoying nature with his dogs with a big smile on his face. Not only was his smile contagious, but his jokes and personality were too. He could get you to sneak him sweets and it didn't matter if you got in trouble for it. He had a sense of loving kindness to his presence that brought everyone together. He was the true definition of a kindhearted person. He welcomed everyone with open arms. His biggest achievement was becoming a husband, father, and provider to his family. Ismael will forever be missed not only by his family but by those impacted by his life.
