Obituary

Jennie (aka Jenny) Blunt was born in Clovis California on November 18, 1920 and passed away on October 8, 2023 just one month shy of her 103rd birthday. Her parents were Erminio and Luisa (Prati) Malandrini. She was raised on ranches in the Reedley/Sanger area and graduated from Sanger High School.

In 1941 she married William (Bill) Blunt, Sr. and together they had 4 children, 1 of whom died shortly after birth. Jennie worked hard all her life in the frozen food plants of Sanger. She was a lead floor lady and worked for 30 years for Seabrook Farms. When their children were young, the family moved to a ranch house on the edge of town ( Sanger). Jennie worked while she raised her children, making sure they were all involved in school activities. She was room mother to all of them, a scout leader and involved with all PTA activities. Together, she and Bill instilled a hard work ethic and taught honesty and integrity to their children. After she retired, she was a volunteer worker at several Sanger charities, including Catholic Charities.

In the early 2000's, she moved to a senior complex in Clovis where she quickly made friends and became involved with all the clubhouses activities. In 2017, she suffered a medical issue that required her to be placed in a nursing home.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years and their infant son; her sister Rose Rodrigues and Lucy Farmer, and her brothers Erminio (George) Malandrini and Joe Malandrini. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Scharnick (Henry), Geraldine Hunter(Douglas), and William Blunt, Jr., her grandchildren, Roxanne McHaley, Kathy Scharnick Williams (Robert), Peggy Scharnick, Emily Blunt and Corey Blunt, her great granddaughter Bonnie Smith, and her Great-great granddaughter Molly Scharnick-Villa.

The family would like to thank the Fresno Nursing Center staff for their care. A special thanks to Janine and her staff at Fresno Hospice, who lovingly cared for Jennie during her last few months. At Jennie's request, no service will be held. Donate to favorite charity.
