Juanita "Janie" Irene Muniz, age 74, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025. She was born on October 28, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Silvestra Villarreal and Eugenio Borjas. A longtime homemaker, Janie devoted her life to her family and faith. She had been a resident of Sanger, California since 2003, and previously lived in Sinton, Texas.

Janie is survived by her loving family: Valerie Contreras, Francisco Nino, Britney Villarreal, Ariana Becerril, Andrea Nino, Jose Contreras Jr., Zada Contreras, Camila Contreras, Serenity Aguero, and son-in-law Andres Aguero, all of Sanger, California. Her daughters Isidra (Jason) Harries of Sandia, Texas, Francisca (Rodrigo) Borjas of Sinton, Texas, and son Reyes Javier (Amy) Borjas of Corpus Christi, Texas also survive her. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Isidora (Marciel) Barrios of Sinton, Texas; brothers Adan Cano of Visalia, California and Frank (Maria) Cano of Sinton, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eugenio Borjas, Silvestra and Esteban Cano; her daughter Patricia Borjas; siblings Manuel Balero, Victoria Hernandez, and Cresencia Rodriguez; and great-grandchildren Angel Heavenly Johnson and Noah Cain Aguero.

Janie was the heart of our family—a strong, loving woman who carried us with her prayers, her laughter, and her stories. She had a way of making everyone feel special, welcomed, and fed—whether it was with a warm meal or a warm hug. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in us: faith, resilience, kindness, and unconditional love. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for every moment we shared. Her spirit will forever guide us, and her love will never leave us. Until we meet again, we carry her in everything we do.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Wallin's Funeral Home in Sanger, California. Cremation will follow.

A Prayer for Janie:
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
