Obituary

Judith Lynn Brown, 73, was born at the Fowler Hospital in Fowler in 1952, to parent's Vernon and Marie Gonsalves. Three years later, her brother, Daniel Wayne, was born and they grew up together at their Springfield Ave ranch in Fowler, where Vernon worked his vineyards and also later became a Fowler Police Officer. Everyone in the family had attended Fowler schools.

During high school and after until 1975, Lynn worked at the New Holland farm machinery plant offices in Fowler. During that time, she met Mark L. Brown in Fresno one night in late 1971, and that meeting together resulted in their subsequent marriage on St. Patrick's Day, 1973, at the Fowler Presbyterian Church.  Lynn and her parents were very active throughout the years with the church, with Lynn's specialty being working with youth. She taught Sunday School, worked with the High School Group, sang in the choir and was a Deacon at her time of passing. Lynn loved her relationships with everyone at the church and maintained contacts with them consistently. Lynn always said she "didn't want any of the kids to not know the Lord."

Lynn and Mark's daughter, Melissa Lynn, was born in 1975, and that was when Lynn became a full-time homemaker. As Melissa grew, she attended Fresno Christian Schools until graduation. In Melissa's younger grades, Lynn volunteered her time at the schools. Her personality demanded she help others, as she had been doing all along in various ways.

Lynn and Mark had acquired a home in Sunnyside in 1974, where they gained close relationships with all of their neighbors. They began hosting or participating in large block party events which grew every year and many there became very close. They lived there for 43 years until finally moving back to Fowler in 2015, after buying the home of former Fowler Presbyterian Pastor Mac Shaw. There, Lynn was closer to her parents and many others she had known all of her life.

Since moving to back to Fowler, father Vernon Gonsalves passed from cancer in 2022 and mother Marie, now suffering with Alzheimer's at 95, became a resident of the Harvest Assisted Living facility in Fowler. Lynn's caring passion sprouted once again and she became a regular volunteer with the Harvest's elderly residents, facilitating weekly bingo and craft activities. She had been doing the same for over ten years with the Ani Guild, which serves the residents of the California Armenian Home. Lynn had many friends in every organization or area she participated in, and loved everyone she worked with. Her passion in this area remained even when she was having difficulties with her own health for her last several months.

In later years, Lynn and Mark enjoyed active, day-hiking vacations in the Sierras, Southern Utah, and Colorado. Just this September, Lynn and Mark traveled to Anchorage, Alaska, where each day's agenda was a day hike in a different location that had all been planned out by watching many hours of travel videos together.  Even at the time of Lynn's recent illness, trips were still in place to the Eastern Sierra's for May, then Lassen Volcanic National Park in September. The Lord decided to cut those trips and take Lynn home early, which is where she always wanted to be—in the presence of the Lord.

The Celebration of Life Service for Lynn will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, 11:00 A.M, at the Fowler Presbyterian Church, 408 E. Merced, Fowler, CA. The family requests that remembrances, in lieu of flowers, be to sent to the Fowler Presbyterian Church in honor of Judith Lynn Brown.
