Mr. Larry O'Neil Johnson from Caruthers, Ca went home to heaven early June 16, 2022 at age 81.

He was born in Arkansas and moved to Caruthers, Ca in 1951 with his family. He attended Alvina Elementary and graduated Caruthers High School in 1958. Larry met the love of his life at Caruthers High School and married Earlene in September of 1961. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2021.

Larry went to work at PG&E as a painter apprentice in 1961 at $2.63/hr. and retired in 1994 as a gas technician (33 years). He continued as a gas consultant for 5 more years.

Larry and Earlene purchased a 40 acre vineyard in 1974 and farmed until 2015.  Larry's happy place was farming and he was proud when his raisins went to the packer.  His wife, children, and grandchildren joined in the fun as free labor.

Larry loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His smile would light the room. The joy of the Lord shone through him and made everyone feel important.  He was actively engaged in all aspects of his family's life.  Larry worked hard to provide but also loved to joke, laugh and have good times with family and friends.

He was a zealous fan of his kids and grandkids' sports and activities. Larry never missed an opportunity to be involved.  He even coached little league baseball for 5 years.  He loved his family time including trips to the coast to camp, ride ATVs, and hang out with family and friends.  He continued this tradition with his grandchildren.

Larry enjoyed serving his community.  He was on the board, served as music and youth director, and also ran the church booth at the fair for the Caruthers Church of the Nazarene within the span of 20 years. He was a board member for Caruthers ISD for 9 years and the Caruthers Lion's Club member.

He is now reunited with his parents, Cleo and Ruby; his brother, Roy Vance; and most recently his daughter, Kaylene Tierce.

His remaining family; his wife of 60 years, Earlene, his children, Kim (Garvin) East, Lance (Melanie) Johnson, and son-in-law, Kevin Tierce; grandchildren, Ethan Tierce, Kylie (Michael) McHugh, Hayley (Cody) Stripling, Cody East, Claire East, Abby Johnson, Lukas Johnson and Emma Johnson; great grandchildren, Addilyn and Landen McHugh and unborn Carter Stripling, eagerly await their reunion with him.
