With humble acceptance of God's will, we announce the passing of Lidia Gaona Chapa on September 22, 2024. Lidia was born on September 24, 1936 in Reynosa Tamaulipas. She was the daughter of Andres and Eugenia Chapa and the sister of Placido, Eusebio, Andres, Armando, Aurelia and Albesa.

Lidia was preceded in death by her parents Andres and Eugenia Chapa; husband of 56 years, Arturo Gaona; two daughters, Maria Eugenia Gaona, Esperanza "Hopie" Gaona; and grandson, Bryan Huerta.

Lidia had a loving and carrying heart and spent most of her young life carrying for her parents Andres and Eugenia Chapa. After marrying the love of her life, Arturo Gaona, she moved to Sanger California. They spent 56 years of marriage together and the love Lidia and Arturo shared was like no other. A love so pure, loyal and faithful. A love that would last forever.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to dance and made the most delicious tortillas de harina.  Lidia's love, care, and devotion to the well-being of her family will never be forgotten.

Lidia is survived by one daughter, Linda Gaona; eleven grandchildren, Adam, Vanessa, Susana, Genesis, Elizabeth, Efrain, Thalia, Julia, Joshua, Aaron and Sally; fourteen great grandchildren, Jenesis, Aaron, Alizé, Eric, Julian, Marina, Sanaya, Andraya, Elijah, Aiden, Ramond, Joseph, Serenity, and Evelyn. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

A viewing and wake service will be held at 4:00pm-7:00pm on Friday, October 4th, 2024 at Wallin's Funeral Home in Sanger. A Burial will follow on (date TBD) and the family will receive friends and family at their residence immediately following the burial service.
