Obituary

Lindy was born in Sanger on October 16th, 1957 and passed away on March 22, 2025 from a lengthy illness… we will all miss
her greatly!

Lindy loved horses from a very early age… she loved to run barrels on her beloved Running Bear and learned roping from her
Dad, Ted Rutledge. Then she got into showing horses with her Mom, Joyce VanHoosen, and stepfather, Gary VanHoosen…
she was a natural, she could do anything, even getting on colts for their first time. Then Lindy started showing and raising
reining horses where she was very successful. When she retired Juice (her number one), she started a very successful
breeding program producing some very talented horses.

Lindy was a true cowgirl, living life to the fullest and achieving things that most of us only dream about. Throughout her
career in the NRHA, she racked up $88,000 in lifetime earnings, proving herself as a fierce competitor and an inspiration to
many. But it was her incredible partnership with one special horse, SLJ Sweet and Juicy (Juice), that truly made them
unforgettable. Together, they took the spotlight at prestigious events like the NRBC, NRHA Derby, Cactus Classic and the
High Roller Reining Classic. They truly were the ultimate Dream Team!

Lindy is survived by her husband, George Longfellow and stepsons Matthew (Anne) and grandson Presley, Skip (Tzarina) and
granddaughter Sophie. Stepmother Judy Rutledge, sister Tracy Summers (Chet) and nieces Michelle Hazelwood (Aaron) and
Melissa Jensen (Ryan). She is also survived by 4 great nephews, 3 great nieces, cousins Sharon Biswell (George), Rick
Saffell, Monty Saffell (Debbie) and Kristi VanHoosen (Randy). Her beloved Maggie, Juice and Lizzie also survive Lindy.
Lindy is preceded in death by her Dad, Ted W. Rutledge; her Mother, Joyce VanHoosen; her stepdad, Gary VanHoosen;
Grandparents Earnest and Francis Saffell, Leonard and Mildred Rutledge, Uncles James W. Rutledge and Ray Saffell; Cousin
Valerie Straus Pranger.
