Louie Conte was born in Sanger, California on August 3, 1934 to Mike and Isabel Conte, Italian Immigrants. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Conte, his grandson Kieran, six brothers, Joe, Victor, Tony, Mike, Stanley, and Robert, and one sister, Rose Roark.
Louie is survived by his sister, Floria DePasquale, his three daughters, Kelly Conte Sieckman, Karen Conte, and Denise Priest, three granddaughters, Caitlyn Sieckman, Wendy Priest, and Brandy Priest, one great granddaughter, four great grandsons, one great great grandson and one great great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
After attending Sanger High School, Louie joined the navy and served four years of active duty. After returning from active duty, Louie quickly completed his apprenticeship education at the Old City College in Fresno and worked as a carpenter with his older brother Joe. Louie married his wife of 57 years, Gloria, in 1959.
Louie eventually worked for Bob Long Construction and was quickly promoted to superintendent. When Bob Long Construction closed, Louie became employed with Robert G. Fisher Company as a construction superintendent and eventually became Senior Vice President of Operations. Louie was known for his work ethic and was responsible for all aspects of construction of schools, medical facilities, hospitals, and industrial buildings. After leaving Robert G Fisher, Louie and Gloria formed the Lou Conte Construction Co. where Louie specialized in high spec public works projects and was awarded contracts on the first five school projects funded by the California State Lottery which made national news.
In their spare time, Louie and Gloria built and remodeled two cabin homes at Shaver Lake, which were admired by the community for the artistic stone work and unique detailed craftsmanship. Louie and Gloria, along with their daughters, granddaughter, family and friends spent many enjoyable weekends and holidays at the cabin.
Louie began playing the Organ in 1962, and his love for music was known by all that loved him. Louie had been involved in music for the past 50 years, enjoying weekly music sessions with the Fresno Organizers, an organization he helped develop, and which awarded many scholarships to music students attending local colleges.
Louie and his wife, Gloria, traveled throughout the world and enjoyed 18 cruises. Louie will always be remembered by those that loved him as hardworking, a good provider, a man of integrity, and a man that was always available to lend a helping hand. Louie will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
