Lucy
Rodrigues
Oct 5, 1937 — Dec 12, 2025
Mrs. Lucy Rodrigues was born on October 5, 1937, in Socorro, New Mexico. She was one of six children, as a child, she moved to Los Angeles, where she attended an all-women's Catholic school through her senior year of high school.
Lucy eventually married and became the proud mother of five beautiful children. Later in life, she met her soulmate, Andy, while working at Del Monte in Fresno. Lucy and Andy later married and travelled to many places together like Alaska, Tahoe, Vegas, and Reno. One of her kids' favorite memories was when she purchased cases of Del Monte pudding once a year. It's a memory that the children always reminisce on because she eventually had to lock the pudding up.
Lucy loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a devoted sports fan who followed football, basketball, and baseball, and always cheered a little harder for the "younger and cutest" players. She also loved visiting different casinos, spending time in her yard, and tending to her beloved roses and tulips. Being outside brought her peace, and she was proud of the home and garden she created.
She worked at Del Monte for over 30 years; a testament to her dedication and strong work ethic. Lucy loved reading, doing puzzles, and indulging her sweet tooth. Her favorite ice cream flavor was Rocky Road, and she loved Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. She also enjoyed watching soap operas and criminal dramas.
Raising her children as a single mother was one of Lucy's greatest challenges and proudest accomplishments. What she was most proud of was seeing the success and strength her children inherited from her. She was small in stature, yet strong as a giant. She proudly sent two of her children to the military and others to college. Her home became the favorite hangout for her daughters' friends and later her grandchildren. With having five children, you can imagine the number of friends that Lucy became a second mother to. She instilled strength in her daughters, all of whom became strong and independent women, just like their mama.
During her final years, Lucy lived at Bethel Lutheran Home. She made a lasting impression because of her never-fading feisty spirit, determination, yet heartwarming personality. Her family is forever grateful for the care and love that the Bethel staff extended.
While surrounded by her children, our Lord took Lucy home on December 12, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Rodrigues, and her daughter, Mona Campas.
She leaves behind four children: her son, David and her three daughters, Gloria, Pilar, Anita; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
