Martin Tovar a resident of Fowler, CA, passed away peacefully in his home on June 8, 2022 at the age of 97. Martin is survived by his wife Lucy Tovar, 2 daughters Marlene Mendoza and Angie Martinez-Custard, six grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. As well as countless foster children he helped to foster over the years. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers, and sisters.
Martin was born in Michoacán, Mexico on February 10, 1925 to Francisco and Felix Tovar. He was the oldest of his siblings. He migrated to Fowler, CA at the age 17. It is here where he found work, became a citizen, and helped support his family. He then went on to marry Lucy Tovar, whom he shared a never ending love with for 75 years. Martin was a devout catholic, who attended mass every week until he was no longer able too. He was one of the many people who helped build St. Lucy's, that currently resides today.
One of Martin's biggest loves of life was when he became a father and grandfather. Always teaching traits he learned over the years, such as the importance of taking care family and how anything is possible as long as you continue to work hard. He always said to treat people good and give to people, for one day you'll need it. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Funeral service for Martin is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd at St. Lucy's church. Flowers/donations may be offered at Wallin's Fowler Funeral Home,
