We bid farewell to our beloved Michael James Hardcastle who passed unexpectedly in his home at 65 years of age. His kind soul has touched so many hearts and he will be remembered as someone who was compassionate, who had a graceful essence, who loved to help others, an excellent listener, and always good company. He was a dear brother, uncle, stepfather, grandfather, husband, and friend. Michael James was born to Jeanne Elizabeth and Theodore "Ted" Wilson Hardcastle on March 3, 1959. He was raised in the small town of Riverdale, California, along with his siblings Stephen "Harry", Craig, Larry, Curtis, and Patty Jeanne Hardcastle. Michael was a recognized football player in high school as a lineman and his love for sports carried on throughout life. He was a devoted Oakland A's fan, drinking coffee from his A's mug every morning. He brought joy to his coworkers even if the days were monotonous, making people smile and laugh while head banging to classic rock. He met his best friend and beautiful wife, Billie Ruth, and they joined hands in marriage at a cute beach town in Morro Bay, California, on September 30, 1995. They made wonderful memories together and navigated life as a team for 29 years. As a proven example of perseverance, he finally retired from the IRS after 40 years on May 13, 2019. Michael adored his pets throughout life and was undoubtedly an animal lover. He enjoyed his retirement with his dogs Phoebe, Buddy, and Boo, who miss him as well. He loved eating good food with loved ones and playing board games with the family. He now rests in heaven, having rejoined his late family that he missed dearly. For those of us here on Earth, we cherish the time we had with Michael James, and he will forever be present in our hearts. We love Michael James Hardcastle so much.
