Mitsuko "Mitzi" Osumi
November 14, 1926 - November 19, 2022
Mitsuko "Mitzi" Osumi passed away peacefully November 19, 2022 at the age of 96. She
enjoyed relatively good health for most of her years, but succumbed to breast cancer in her final
years.
Mitsuko Tsuji was born in Elderwood, California to Torazo & amp; Suye Tsuji and had four brothers
and a sister. The family moved to Yettem, California with Mitzi attending two years of high
school in Visalia before the family was sent to internment camps in Poston, Arizona in 1942.
She graduated from the camp high school in 1944. She and her sister spent some time working
in Chicago before the end of the war. After the war, the family relocated to Sanger, California,
then later moved to Parlier, California.
She married Kengo Osumi of Parlier in 1953. She was a mother and homemaker for her
husband and three children in addition to working on the farm. She also spent many summers
working as a packer in a local packing shed. Mitzi and Kengo bowled weekly in a league along
with many friends. She also sewed, crocheted, knitted and read mysteries in her free time. After
Kengo retired, they traveled the country together and enjoyed breakfasts out.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kengo, daughter, Lou Osumi, sister, Hatsue "Sue"
Nakamura, and brother, Bill Hisao Tsuji. She is survived by her son, Gregg Osumi, daughter,
Joy and her husband, Casey Crockett, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers
George, Hiroshi, and Minoru Tsuji and their families.
We would like to thank the care staff at Palm Village Retirement Community and Bristol Hospice
for helping us care for our mom in her final days.
A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at
Campus Bible Church, 4710 N. Maple Ave., Fresno, CA. 93726.
