Nellie Elizabeth Scholar
Beloved Mother, Mimi, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend

December 25, 1937 – September 8, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, and friend, Nellie who passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 87.

Nellie lived nearly her entire life in Sanger, and was a proud daughter of the Central Valley, where her roots run deep and her heart remained grounded in family, faith, and community. A devoted Catholic, she lived her life guided by love, compassion and an unwavering belief in the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit.

Nellie was the heart of our very large and loving family. Her fierce loyalty, feistiness, and boundless devotion defined her. Whether it was a family or holiday gathering, an engaging phone call, or sending thoughtful cards, she made everyone feel seen, loved, and welcome. She supported her family to the end, attending every event, celebration, or special moment. Family meant everything to her—and she gave them everything.

Known for her impeccable sense of style and flair for fashion, Nellie brought zest and color into every room she entered. Her signature lipstick and matching nails, elegant scarves, and snappy spirit will forever remain in our memories.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe, her parents, Ruth and Joe, her brother, John, and her great-grandchild, Parker Joan. She is survived by her three children, Joanie (husband, Kevin), Diana (husband, Tom), and Tom (partner, Bart). She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Cody (wife, Leslie), Kash (fiancée, Melissa), Zach (wife, Logan), Chaplin (wife, Nasim), and Grant, and her great-grandchild, Jackson. She is also survived by her siblings Richard, Lydia, Josie, Mary, and Celia, as well as her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her deeply.

A visitation and Rosary will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 9:00 am (visitation) and 9:30 am (Rosary) followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am.  She will be laid to rest at the Sanger Cemetery.

Though our hearts ache with her passing, we find peace in knowing she is now in the arms of our Lord, surrounded by eternal love.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
