Norman Arakel Shamshoian, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 6, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 20, 1940, in Fresno, California, Norman was the cherished son of the late Mike and Minnie Shamshoian. With an unwavering dedication to his family and community, he leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and compassion. Norman graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1958, and in 1962, he married the love of his life, Betty Munoz, in Fresno. Their union was a testament to enduring love, celebrating 64 years of marriage filled with joy, friendship, and partnership. As a couple they served in Bible Study Fellowship, Church leadership, and enjoyed their ministry to young adults. His devotion to God and those around him brought him much joy. He loved all sports and played baseball, softball, basketball, and soccer. But his passion was coaching youth and attending their sporting events. Norman was a respected businessman, owning Sham's clothing store for 25 years, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many in the community. Following his successful tenure as a business owner, Norman continued to serve others as a sales associate at Fashion Furniture for 33 years. His dedication to his work and his customers was evident in the many friendships he formed throughout his career.
God and family was of utmost importance to Norman, who was a devoted husband to Betty and a loving father to his daughter Karen Thompson and her husband Mark; his son Tony Shamshoian and his wife Diane. A proud grandfather, he adored his grandchildren, Christopher Thompson, Michael Thompson and his wife Brianna, Sierra Frausto and her husband Manuel, and Alia Shamshoian. His heart expanded even further with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Gracelynn, Ember, Anias, and Eziah Thompson, who brought him immense joy in his later years. Norman is also survived by his brother, Bob Shamshoian, and many nephews & nieces.
Norman's life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00am, at Trinity Community Church, located at 12168 N Willow Ave., Clovis, CA 93619.
