Ricarda G.
Rodriguez
Apr 3, 1940 — Oct 6, 2022
Parlier
Mrs. Ricarda G. Rodriguez, age 82, passed away to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 6, 2022. She was born on April 3, 1940 to Lucas and Francisca Garcia in Matehuala San Luis Potosi, Mexico. They lived humbly in a two-room house in Rancho San Pedro. Ricarda was the fifth child of 11 brothers and sisters. Her family farmed their land and cared for their livestock. Her parents always wanted their children to have better opportunities, so they migrated with the entire family from San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the Harlingen area of Texas in the mid 1950s.
She and her siblings worked at a local cannery and in other types of agricultural work. In 1958, the family moved to California in search of a better life and work opportunities. She and her family moved to the Central Valley in the Sanger and Parlier, CA area. They settled in the small town of Parlier where she and her siblings worked in surrounding farms picking seasonal fruits and doing field work. It was in the town of Parlier that she met and fell in love with her future husband, Horacio Rodriguez Peña. They loved dancing and attended local dances whenever possible. On August 5, 1962, Ricarda and Horacio were married in a small ceremony in Parlier, CA.
Ricarda and Horacio settled in Parlier where they both worked as farm workers. They had a total of five children. In the 1970s, Ricarda and Horacio purchased their home on the corner of Parlier Avenue and Mendocino Avenue. After a few years, they established an auto shop business and became self-employed. Horacio operated and managed the business and Ricarda continued to work in farm labor. Ricarda was a devout Catholic and taught her children the importance of trusting in our Lord, attending mass regularly, completing the holy sacraments, and loving one another as brothers and sisters. She was also a very dedicated wife, a mother who fiercely loved her five children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, being outdoors, and helping others. She had a heart of gold and was well-known for her delicious chile colorado and tamales, among other dishes she loved to cook for her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rosalinda R. Borboa of Selma, CA and Diana R. Alanis of Rio Grande City, Texas, and three sons, Horacio Rodriguez, Jr. of Visalia, CA, Efrain Rodriguez of Sanger CA, and Ricardo Rodriguez of Parlier, CA., thirteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Ricarda was preceded in death by her husband Horacio Rodriguez Peña on May 22, 2020. Ricarda and Horacio were married a total of 58 years.
She is also preceded in death by her parents Lucas and Francisca Garcia, sisters Maria Garcia, Gloria "GiGi" Garcia, brothers Joe Garcia and Atanacio Garcia. Her surviving brothers and sisters include Juana Martinez of Parlier CA, Pedro Garcia of Kingsburg, CA, Maria de Jesus Aleman of Bakersfield, CA, Maria Aurora Resendiz of Sanger, CA, Benita Garcia of Parlier, CA, and Victor Garcia of Parlier, CA.
The Rodriguez family would like to thank all family members and friends for all the support and love during this difficult time.
Descansa en paz querida madre…NUNCA te olvidaremos.
