Roger Anson Pursell was born on October 29, 1951, in Fresno, California. His parents, Roger Pursell and Edith (Lassen) Pursell lived in Fresno for several years before settling out in the country in Easton. Anson attended Washington Union High School and graduated in 1969. He was a band member and played the trumpet in the band. He also enjoyed playing the piano. Anson continued as a band member of Washington Union High School's alumni band for many years after graduation. They would play in the Caruthers Fair parade and travel to other places such as Pismo Beach to play in parades as well.

Anson began working as an accountant in the produce business shortly after graduation and spent his entire life in this line of work. Anson loved his work family and made many friends throughout the years.

Anson's favorite hobby was spending time in the casinos with his sister, Kjersti, brother, Brandon, or just by himself - pulling the one-armed bandits! He had a knack for winning - some would call it luck...not so sure about that.

Anson also had a love for his cats AND Liza Minelli! He had several cats throughout his life and collected hundreds of cat figurines. AND Liza, he attended concerts, listened to her music often - was a HUGE Liza fan!!!

Anson passed away on September 3, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Florence, father Roger, mother Edith, and sister Kjersti. Anson was a loving grandson, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to all that he touched. Instead of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity in Anson's memory. His services will be at the Washington Colony Cemetery at 10AM on October 29, which would have been his birthday.
