Rose Marie
Cano
Jun 3, 1936 — Apr 27, 2026
Sanger
Rose-Marie Cano, born June 3, 1936, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. A lifelong resident of Sanger, California, Rose-Marie was a proud first-generation American, born to Mary and Rosendo Lopez, who each came from different parts of Mexico, met in California, and built a life together in Sanger.
Rose-Marie was raised in Sanger, where she went on to raise her own family and build a life rooted in hard work, strength, and deep love. She worked for many years at a local frozen food plant, holding numerous positions before retiring from the lab. She was known for her strength, stubbornness, sharp mind, and quick wit—qualities that defined her and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She was deeply dedicated to her family and found her greatest joy in caring for others. She loved cooking and bringing people together, especially during family gatherings where her presence made a house feel like home. She also enjoyed frequent visits to the casino, where her lively spirit and love for life always shined through. She welcomed her children's friends as her own and was a trusted and loving presence in their lives. She could always be counted on to show up rarely missing a game, celebration, or important moment for the children she loved so deeply.
Rose-Marie is survived by her children, Anthony, Randy, and Eddie Cano and their significant others, Linda, Diane, and Sylvia. She is also survived by her siblings Patsy, David, and Lucy. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Rosendo Lopez; her children, daughter Lupe Ponce and son Clem "Frog" Cano; her sister Nora; and her brothers Victor, Sam, and Rosendo Lopez Jr.
A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Bethel and North, Sanger, Ca. Interment will follow at Sanger Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents. A special thank you to all those who provided loving and exceptional care to Rose. She had a way of making everyone feel like family, and her love will continue to be felt around every table she once filled.
