Ruben Garza 83 of Sanger, California passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024. For the past 2 years Ruben has lived at the Vineyard Care Center in Reedley, California.

Ruben was born on December 27, 1940, in Raymondville, Texas. In 1955, Ruben along with his father Jose T. Garza came from Texas to California to visit his Tia Panchita and Tio Mando. What was meant to be a short visit turned into a permanent stay. Ruben's father met the love of his life in 1955, Concepcion Torres. Not long after, his siblings were born, Richard, Raymond, Daniel, Marylou, Esther, Johnny, and Julie. As a young adult Ruben lived and worked on his Tia Panchita's Ranch. While living in Tombstone he was able to spend time and make memories with his cousin Jesus Cavazos his wife Delfina Cavazos and their 6 children Ezekiel, Raul, Eva, Lydia, Ruben, and Irene. He loved and took care of his cousins as if they were his own siblings. Ruben loved many things like going to church every Sunday, being in The Arc program where he had many friends, and walking to the Chankla store to buy his 32 oz. soda and a sweet treat.

He is preceded in death by his father Jose T. Garza, Stepmother Concepcion Garza, Tia Panchita, and Tio Mando. He is survived by his brothers, sisters, cousins and many nephews and nieces.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the staff members who cared for Ruben during his stay at The Vineyard Care Center.
