Sally Perez Martin was born in Carlsbad, New
Mexico on December 6, 1927, to her parents
Desiderio and Gregoria Perez. She married on June 30,
1943, to Alexander Martin Sr. They were married for 68 years
until Alex's death on April 14, 2011. She was blessed with 9
children: Alexander Jr., Linda, Daniel, Frances, Michael,
Rick, Rosemary, Sally, and Rita. She leaves behind her
siblings: Ramona Castro of Monterey Park Ca, Isabel Nerio
of Dinuba Ca, and brother Desiderio Perez of Dinuba, Ca.
Sally was a devoted and faithful Christian mother who
strongly believed in the power of prayer. She was a
member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Fowler for
many years and most recently attended Spanish services
at The Worship Centre Church. She enjoyed reading her
bible, worshiping, and singing hymns in English and Spanish.
Sally worked a few jobs as she was limited due to caring for
her children. When they grew older, she was able to take
them to work into the fields picking grapes, cotton,
strawberries, and boysenberries. Although she had little
education, she mastered many life skills such as cooking,
baking, sewing, crocheting, canning, quilting, organizing,
planning, gardening, and fundraising. She loved all her
grandchildren and would enjoy planning tea parties,
barbeques, and making up Christmas treat bags for them.
Sally learned to be a dog lover late in life and appreciated
their companionship during her time alone at home. She
even started a wardrobe for them!
Sally was so enormously proud of all her children and their
accomplishments in life. Her love of Jesus was so profound
and lives in each of her children today!
