In Loving Memory of Steven Earl Delaney

March 9, 1972 – July 12, 2025

With deep sadness and love, we announce the passing of Steve Delaney, an unforgettable man who was called home to heaven too soon.

Steve was born to Barbara & Gene Delaney on March 9, 1972 in Merced, California. He attended Chowchilla schools, graduating from Chowchilla High School in 1990.

Steve married his childhood sweetheart, Margo Speight, on May 22, 1993. The couple made their home in Alameda while Steve attended San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. They spent the next 18 years in the Bay Area working & playing hard, traveling the world & making life-long friends wherever they went. In 2007, Steve & Margo welcomed twins, their miracle babies, Madison Grace and Spencer Gage, who they tirelessly prayed for. Soon after becoming parents, they chose to move back to the Valley to be closer to family and to raise their children in Clovis.

Steve continued to practice his passion of serving families in their time of need in the funeral industry. He was incredibly proud of his baby sister, Rachel, for following in his footsteps. Never one to sit still, Steve was also a licensed realtor, a dedicated Rotarian and Chaplain for the Reedley Police Department.

One of Steve's passions in life was the freedom he felt while riding his Harley. He was a life-long Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Dodgers fan. He enjoyed staying up late and listening to the police scanner with his kids, spending time swimming, BBQing and traveling with his family.

Steve was a man full of contradictions in the best possible way – both tough and tender, stubborn and sweet, ornery and endlessly giving. He had a sharp wit, a dry sense of humor, and a way of making people laugh when they least expected it (and sometimes when they least wanted to). Beneath his gruff exterior was a heart that showed up, time and again, for those in need.

He was a rock for our family – strong, steady, and always there, even if his love sometimes came wrapped in sarcasm or a well-timed eye roll. He worked tirelessly, lived honestly, and loved with a quiet intensity that will never be forgotten. His life long dedication to the funeral industry led to 30 years of serving those in their most vulnerable times of their lives. He cared for every individual with the utmost professionalism, kindness, compassion and strength as if they were his own family.

He is survived by his family; Margo, Madison, and Spencer Delaney. His parents Gene and Barbara Delaney, Brother Mike (Geannie) Lockhart and sister Rachel (Armando) Castillo and countless nieces and nephews who will all carry his stories, his laughter, and his stubbornness forward.

Steve will be laid to rest in a private full body burial at sea (his request) on August 2, 2025.

A public celebration of life will be held on August 9th at 12pm at:
