Dr. Timothy Andrew Wilkins passed away on January 25, 2024, at the age of 76. He was surrounded by his family on the farm he loved in Del Rey, California.

Tim was born to Russell and Mildred Wilkins on June 15, 1947, in Fresno, California. Tim married his high school sweetheart, Cathy Monis, and after his graduation from Fresno State, the small-town "kids" moved to Los Angeles where Tim completed graduate school at Southern California College of Optometry. The two returned to Fowler in 1973, and Dr. TAW began examining eyes soon after. Then came the kids: Rhonda, TJ, and Amanda, and never was a father more proud of his family. Tim and Cathy balanced and juggled and supported the kids and their pursuits as Redcats and Bulldogs…and Apaches and Vikings and Tigers. He probably visited every gym in the Central Valley.

Tim's big heart loved and loved and loved. He loved his patients, and his office staff will tell you how often they had to prod him from one room to another because "there are other patients waiting, Doc!" He truly cared about people, and he took time to listen to their stories. Tim also loved his farm. It didn't matter if he was growing raisins or apricots or peaches, he enjoyed working the land that had been in the family for generations and believed "sitting on a tractor with a cigar is the best thinking time you'll ever get." Tim loved his community, and even when his mind failed him, he asked everyone he encountered if they were from Fowler, always looking for a hometown connection. He was proud to be a Fowler Lion and a member of the Pharaohs Car Club; he was proud to serve his community in various ways.

Tim's legacy includes Cathy, his wife of 56 years; three children and their spouses: Rhonda & Ignacio Siqueiros, TJ & Jessica Wilkins, and Amanda & Damien Terronez; nine amazing grandchildren; siblings & their spouses: Russell (Elaine) Wilkins, Kristin (Mike) Johnson, Debra (Jim) Johnson, and Peggy (Jay) Showalter; and many beloved friends who are definitely part of the family.

Visitation for Tim will be at Wallin's Funeral Home in Fowler on Thursday, February 1, from 5 pm – 7 pm. A graveside service will be at Fowler District Cemetery on Friday, February 2, at 2 pm, followed by desserts at the Fowler Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that memorial gifts be sent to Fowler Presbyterian Church (408 E Merced Street, Fowler, CA 93625) in Memory of Tim Wilkins or to a charity of your choice.
