Tony Monis,
Jr.
Sep 10, 1938 — Jan 28, 2025
Fowler
Tony Monis peacefully passed from this life, surrounded by his loved ones, and was welcomed into Heaven and the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at his home in San Clemente, CA. He was 86 years young and lived an extraordinary life full of love, faith, family, and friends.
Tony was born to Tony and Carmen Monis on September 10, 1938, in Fowler, CA. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1956, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country for three years. While stationed at Cherry Point Marine Base in North Carolina, he met the love of his life, Vivian Bass, a fun-loving young woman from Edenton, North Carolina. They married on July 5, 1959, and in 1960, moved back to Fowler to begin their life together. Tony and Vivian shared nearly 64 years of marriage, building a beautiful family along the way.
Tony dedicated his entire career to Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED), beginning in 1959 with an entry-level warehouse position in the Fresno location upon returning home with his young family. Recognized early for his leadership qualities, he quickly advanced into sales and management, ultimately becoming company president in 1976. He led CED with excellence for 23 years until his retirement in 1999.
Tony embraced retirement wholeheartedly. Initially moving back to Fowler to be near his parents and extended family, he later settled in San Clemente in 2010 to be closer to his children, grandchildren, and eventually great-grandchildren. Whether spending time with family, going to the gym, attending numerous Bible studies, golfing twice a week, or enjoying a wonderful network of close friends, Tony was the poster child for retirement after a long and fulfilling career.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Vivian. He was the eldest of five and is survived by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Colleen Monis and Frank and Shannon Monis; his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Mike Cassidy and Gail and Don Sage; his two children, Steve Monis and Sharon Taylor; his daughter-in-law, Cheri Monis; his son-in-law, Mel Taylor; and his cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Monis, Michael Monis, Lauren and Corey Darmanin, Matt and Jenny Gray, Scott Gray and his fiancée Erin, Ally Taylor, and Mandy Taylor. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Dylan Darmanin, Emily Darmanin, Elinor Gray, James Gray and Liam Esser, along with many other beloved family members and dear friends.
Tony was a man of unwavering faith, and his deep love for Jesus gives us all the assurance that he is in the presence of God. He and Vivian were a beautiful example of a Christ-centered marriage, and their love for God and commitment to family remain an enduring model for all who knew them.
