Obituary

It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, son and friend Anthony G. Martinez. Tony, as he was called by all who knew and loved him, was called to heaven on Thursday July 27, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Norma (Munoz) Martinez, his three children Vicky (Martinez) Hoffman, Josie Martinez, Lucas Anthony Martinez, his two sons-in-law Eric Hoffman, Tony Suarez, and two grandsons Jacob and Joshua Suarez. He is also survived by his mother Juana G. Martinez, and siblings; Ma' Isabel Alanis, Guadalupe Lucero, Rogaciano Martinez, Reymundo Martinez, Alfredo Martinez, Enrique Martinez, Armando Martinez, Veronica Sanchez, Hector Martinez and John Martinez and numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his father Lorenzo G. Martinez.

Born on July 28, 1952, in San Luis Potosi Mexico, Tony immigrated to the United States with his family in the early 1960's. Being the child of farm workers, he traveled across the U.S. with his family working the fields harvesting a variety of crops. After a couple of years, he and his family finally settled in the small town of Parlier, CA. It is here where he met his future wife Norma, and started to build what would become long lasting friendships and earn respect from members of the community and the Ag industry he grew to love. Tony worked in the ag industry for over fifty years in a variety of roles, starting from working in the fields, to a tractor driver, a forklift operator to finally managing in a leading stone fruit facility. Tony impacted many who worked with him, and his work ethic was admired by all those who got to work alongside him.

Tony was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous and loyal. He was a god-fearing man and a devout Christian. He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it and you were blessed for it.
