Walter Joseph Shafer passed away unexpectedly at home on July 31st, 2023 in Sanger, California at the age of 55.

Walter was born on October 13th, 1967, to Earl and Charlene Shafer in Mission Hills, California. He graduated from Sanger High School in 1986. During his junior year of high school, in 1985, he started working at his father's auto shop, Earl and Ray's Motors in Sanger. Walter worked here and eventually took over his father's business in 1996.

Walter enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed being at his shop and talking with his customers every day. When Walter wasn't at his shop, he enjoyed going fishing and shooting.

Walter was predeceased by his father, Earl Shafer, who died February 19th, 1997 and mother, Charlene Shafer, who died August 4, 2023. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Mary Neal (Everette Neal), Virginia Lenz (Richard Lenz), Earl Shafer (Jennifer Shafer), RoseMary Scheck (Daniel Scheck), and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 24th, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sanger, California. The burial will immediately follow at Sanger Cemetery. Donations can be made in Walters name to Valley Children's Hospital or St Jude's Medical Center, two organizations that Walter felt strongly about.

Walter will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them - and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be missed dearly.
